Research Spotlight: Summer Field Work

Our students and faculty are having an action-packed summer catching up on field work as pandemic restrictions begin to lift. Future Rivers trainee Gabriel Wisswaesser has collected and tested freshwater samples in Mount Rainier National Park for the presence of environmental DNA (eDNA) to create a historical record of native species. Trainee Jessica Diallo and faculty advisor Julian Olden conducted fish surveys in the Burro Creek watershed in Arizona to evaluate the impacts of nonnative fish on native fish growth and trophic ecology. Stay tuned for findings from this awesome research!
